Some snapshots of my growing Leichardti...

Thanks guys...this is my first attempt with Aros...so trying and learning from the experience folks...

I started mine in a 29 full of live bearers. Then a 40B, 150 and now a 240. I'm glad yours did so well with such a large tank. Mine was kind of sickly, so needed the jumpstart.

Yeah, for me I'm thinking the larger tank was never really the issue, but the fact I had so few (and still small/young) tank mates where it didn't feel so threatened.

Rodger, did you get a sense of when your Lei stopped getting so easily spooked? I know all fishes and environments where we keep them are different, but trying to get a sense from other owners? My Lei is getting use to me, I'll hand feed and it will swim towards me when I stand next to the tank. It does still however get spooked, especially with rest of my family. I think it's also the fact that my tank is clear on three sides contributes to that as well.

Lei died over this last weekend. About a month ago he snapped at an acrylic lock I had on the lids. Perhaps coincidence, but he started forming a large "tumor" within his mouth on the exact side he bit the acrylic. It was not getting any better/smaller and actually looked like it was getting larger hanging out on the side of his mouth (and he couldn't close his mouth). Water parameters all good.

I ended taking him out to cut the tumor and put him in antibiotics (hospital tank). He was doing fine for the first half hour, but I think between extracting from the main tank (bumping his head quite a bit) and treating him in the hospital it was too much shock.

He measured at 10" head to tail and grew 7"+ inches in 4 months. I was bummed, but learned from this and I am going to do this again (addressed the acrylic lock issue too). Just wanted to share.

Very sorry to hear that buddy. Your little guy was a beautiful fish. I can only hope mine grows to be as nice looking as yours was.

Thanks, man. Just when he started seriously taking down Hikari sticks too. Takes some pix of your little guy. I found it good mixing up his diet and he was growing nicely. Good luck.
