That really sucks. I also have an RTG and others with my rays and I worry sometimes as the other fish pick off market prawn off of the rays body when it sometimes settles there. One of these times one of them is going to get too close to the rays eyes and they may suffer the same fate.

The only time my rays tried to cover a tankmate was when I first put my datnoid (3") in the tank. The rays cornered him and then one of them tried to cover him but he wiggled out (before I had to save him). He then stayed in his PVC tube for the next 6 months. I had to put his shrimp in the tube with tongs for him to eat. He's about 6" now and has no trouble with the rays.

Once again, sorry for your loss. He sounded like a beautiful fish.
