My FlowerHorn has been with my Family for a long- long time now~

For about 2 weeks it was loosing its appetite and acting kind of weird.
Then i noticed that it had Hole in the Head disease.
And Also Tail Rot.

I used Melafix to treat the Tail Rot.
The Tail got better, but the Hole in the Head actually got worse.

It began to get more holes, and the existing holes became larger.
Then there was puss like grey stuff coming out of the holes.

In which i began to use RiD FUNGUS.
I had to go away for a few days...
then when i came back home~

My Flower Horn was floating side up.
The Stomach was bloated (Swim Bladder?)
And no matter how hard it tried, it would end up giving up and float back up to the top on its side.

I have been medicating it daily with Rid Fungus and the hole in the head seems to be healing / getting smaller. Also, the water level is at 75%

But the stomach seems to be bloating larger and larger with each passing day.
Right now the Stomach is HUGE and i fear my flowerhorn may end up dying... (Still Floating Side Up; Bloated on the Right Side Only)

But i really dont want that to happen.

I've been reading things online about feeding Peas and stuff, but its been about... 2 weeks since my Flowerhorn has eaten anything.
Plus, i dont know how it would eat anything floating like that~

Also! the Jaw looks weird. Almost as if its slightly extended forward.

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME?
i Really dont want to poke a hole in my buddy.
Doesn't Seem right, and sounds very risky.

And i dont want it to die.
My family loves this fish dearly.
Please let me know if anyone has any kind of idea.

Thank you all in advance for taking the time to give some input or any gestures at all.

most important detail, what are the water parameters? degraded conditions are what lead to some of these ailments

Sorry, i do not test my waters.
:nilly:
Never believed in doing so.
Also, its way too expensive to keep testing waters.

Any idea?

i would try adding vitamins to the water, and food if it will take it. also remove carbon from filter. as said above what is your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate.

medication probably wont help the whole in the head although it may prevent infections from the lesions.

like cichlid anonymous said-need parameters (ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels), tank size, what are the tankmates? diet? waterchange schedule? it is important to know your nitrate levels.

peas are not going to help it at this point.

you may have better luck if this is moved to the disease section too- one of the mods there (Lupin) is great at disease id and treatment.

usually, if the fish gets to the point where its floating on its side, tail up or head down (equalibrium being affected) then the swim bladder is damaged, and there is usually organ damage (like the kidneys) and it is beyond help by the time organ damage occurs.

just for curiosity you said it is floating on its side on the top of the tank-right? so could there be trapped air keeping the fish afloat? are you feeding floating pellets and maybe the fish gulped a bunch of air? if it is air then use your hands and hold the fish down in the water, head up and see if air comes out.

can u post a pic of the fish?

not to make light of your situation. but do you wonder why your fish is sick?

if your serious saving your fish go buy one right now.

:screwy: If you can afford to house a flowerhorn you can afford a 20 dollar test kit.
I highly suggest checking your waters parameters on a routine basis. Sorry to hear about the flowerhorn I always used seachems pure metrodianazole it works for bloat. What you may have is dropsy looking though I can't really tell you more without more information. You may have better luck in the diseases and treatment area.

damn it.

i gotta go to work right now though...

.. ima take a day off tomorrow to see what i can do for it.

Prolly buy a test kit tomorrow.

But right now i cant make any moves.

anybody got any ideas of what i could do without the "Test Result info" ?!?!?

Do some water changes :) Gravel vac. Look at photos of fish with bloat , swim bladder issues and dropsy do some research :)
