I'm confused also, "at least a 50 gallon" is about right as the minimum size for a single Oscar...

Hawaii huh..

theres a few MFKers in Hawaii..

Whats wrong about his post? He said it needs to go to be housed in at least a 50g...wich is approx the suggested min space needed for 1 Oscar. I mean I have seen a pair of oscars living and breeding in a 75 so a 50 for 1 lone oscar should be just fine.

nope. 50gal isn't enough. the oscar would have to be really still all the time. probably why people think of oscars as slow and lazy fish.

after all a standard 55 gal is just a 30 gal with maybe just another foot or so added to length.

A standard 55 is 4'x1'x18". And breeder is 3'x18"x18". Both would be a minimum size tanks. Hence the word minimum, as in smallest possible. The ideal tank would be bigger. I personally would go with a 75, but a 3'x18"x18" would keep a single oscar.

3'x18"x18" wouldn't be 55 gallons but alright.
