I have a 120 I'm trying to set up. I put sand into five gallon buckets and rinsed it well. I put it in the tank filled it with water and all I see is a tank full of white water I need to get this setup pretty quick whats the fastest way to clean the sand while in the tank would emptying the tank and filling it again work or is there something I'm missing please help

just did the same thing to my 58 gallon this morning let the filter run and do a 50% water change and it should help alot the filter will clear the tank alot in 24 hrs or so depending on filtration you could run some polyfil in the filter to help polish up the water

there are products - - Seachem makes one called Clarity - - that help clear water faster . . . basically, they work by "clumping" your finer particles into larger pieces that can be more readily cleaned up by your filter

I've seen it work with Flourite, presumably would work with sand too (?)

Large water changes will definitely help a lot...

If you rely on your filtration to remove the particles, I sugest wrapping cloth/media around your intake to avoid the particles from clogging your filters' main media.

Fine sand particles can be quite sharp particles which can be pretty rough on wha tis probably otherwise brand new media. The prefilter will also protect impellors if your style of filter has media after the impellor... which is the case for most/all HOBs...

last night I took everything out I'm doing a bare bottom for now thanks for the advise it was just to aggravating
