Blue Box - Males will usually have more blue spangling on their flanks, especially above the lateral line, than females.

Pink Box - Males typically have longer more pointed anal fins

Green Box - And the easiest and most sure-fire way to sex JDs is the gill plate. Females will have a lot of blue covering the gill plate, whereas the males will only have a few blue spots.

The vertical barring will be present in both males and females depending on mood, age, and environment.

Wow that helps alot! I 90% can tell now I just don't understand the blue box and on the girls anal fin it's more round? Thanks so much! But also what food should I feed, temp, and am guessing water params should be like for any normal fish. And u just place them in with eachother and they'll breed? Like convicts lol?

The blue box is supposed to show that the male has more bright blue specks on its sides, especially on the upper half compared to females.

And yes in most cases females will have shorter more rounded anal fins, this is not always the case.

I dont think they pair up as readily as convicts

Feed them a good pellet like Hikari Bio Gold or NLS, and supplement that with some high quality live foods, like little pieces of shrimp, krill, earth worms (Brineshrimp and Bloodworms for juvies)

Temp should be between 78-82 probably on the higher end for breeding.

I personally have never bred them
