i keep my lights on about 5 hours a day, have regular aquarium bulb 15 watts in a 12 gallon, MANY live plants and tank is located near a curtained window, never gets direct sunlight.

Getting Pleco doesn't have anything to do with the problem. Its a common misconception that Pleco are "algee eaters".... they only eat algee because they dont get fed properly.

ech yeah they do. They're very pretty and all, but wouldn't want to own one just because of the excessive pooping >_>

yeah its true! but somehow they manage to accidentally clean your glass and other food scraps that can contaminate your water,,one thing i dont like about plecos is that they grow big,become territorial and uproot my plants,so a just switched to freshwater shrimps,gyrinocheilidae, and different kinds of snails

good idea mercury. That stuff finally went away... i think it actually was a parasite or something... a few of my fish died of SOMETHING... but all is well... now i have nice green...grass? lol its grass. =D
