Depends on the staff..

Sometimes the customers are stupid. ?

You can't expect much when employees are paid minimum wage. The 'franchise' concept is to hire unskilled people, train them as fast as possible, and pay them as little as possible. Quality employees naturally will leave for higher pay and better opportunities, or to get away from the idiots...

THe PetsMart I worked at was ok. Only one other employee besides me had at least a decent amount of knowledge on fish. You see the employess in the fish dept not only do fish but small animals, reptiles, and birds. The other people in my dept included a bird expert and a small animal expert. The latter knew minimal about fish but were excellent in their areas. Our pet care manager is also a marine biologist and damn does she know her fish....did I mention shes a MILF lol

We also didnt get paid min wage....not even close! I started at $8/hr which isnt much but sure as hell beats $5.15(min wage)

Yeah, if you have pretty good experience, they'll start you out pretty good. Its the highschool kids that think all they get to do is play with animals all day that can be problematic. I have to admit , it is a lot to learn, especially if you're starting from scratch. Reading helps. I love to read, and usually browse through fish and reptile mags while I'm on break or on lunch.
