Something in Between

the tanks are tiny... its for research purposes. they can barely turn around

if you don't believe me I can take a picture of a Sternopygus with another knife. I have never seen them be aggressive at all.

They are kept with bgk, brown ghosts, P. hasemani, R. rostratus, pleco, and i think we kept one with an A. bonapartii

No I believe you its just if I was to get a fish I want to make sure it won't kill any of my other fish and you don't have to get a pic just to prove it. So now that I know there good with other fish how are other fishes to it. Like do other more slightly aggressive species patronize them?

hmm so it sounds to me that they are actually preatty mellow fish, then why does everyone says there really predatory and have a lot of the same habits as an Aba aba?

But you having experince seeing that they are find together, makes it kind of hard to think "no it won't work". Would you know if they maybe kept, only males and females together or something like that also how big is the tank they kept them in? Because that could cause some diffrence in their nature.

But I guess it doesn't really matter to much in my case because I'm only planning on keep one with different fish species, but it would still be nice to know for future refrence.

Everyone else says this because they are running on assumptions by peoplewho claim to know everything about the fish.

Experience is a better teacher, though. And that's why we have these forums! To commune with those who have experience on the matter. :)

You can go with a Longtail Knife aka Goldline Knife (Sternopygus Macrurus) They grow a little over the 3' mark and are pretty territorial.

I was doing some extra research on the sternopygys macrurus and I found out that they grow way over 3' they grow 56" according to everyone. Well then I guess its back to the Ossa knife (Rhamphichthys rostratus) again, too bad to I liked the way Gold-line knifes look. :(
