water change will help, sounds like fungus, did u add any chemicals after u do a water change?

I agree.
I have seen a fungus that causes this white condition. Have you added any new stock recently?

My convicts are NOT a pair and they aren't even in the same tank as him!

Alrighty thanks guys, if it is an infection, what can I use to get rid of it??

Salt has always worked for me (see my previous post). I always use salt first because it's cheaper and always safer than medicine (as long as you don't add enough to suck your fish dry). During the treatment you need to change lots of water... I would say 15% a day, maybe even more.

I have not added any new stock to my tanks lately.
Just my cichlid tank, which I had to borrow from my aunt so they would
stop picking on anything I had in my other tank.
Got rid of everything in my other tank besides the pleco and
now have the oscar, both will soon be moved to a bigger tank
as I stated earlier.
I did have a clown knife fish, but gave it to a friend who already
has some.. he could take care of it better then I could. I don't
have room for a huge tank that he will require when he grows.

So I'm gonna go to the pet store tomorrow, but still do my water
change today, hopefully get more stuff for my tanks while
I'm at it and treat the pH and everything else.

So lets hope this works.
thanks for the help everyone!

Thought I would mention that having the pleco along with the oscar can be bad at this point (cause its only 30g tank). Not only does the oscar create a great amount of waste, the pleco will as well. They are a pooping machine if you will. Might be best to move the pleco in with other cichlids and have some other bottom feeder (corys, loaches, etc) that will clean up small bits from the oscar and not create nearly the waste.

Not all water quaity aspects deal with just Ammonnia and it's by products - Urines, CO2, insufficent amount of dissolved oxygen, to name a few. Stress is the leading cause of most fish diseases, insufficent water volume can cause stress.
