Something I've noticed with all the kels around here...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like my Sao Fran it was whole big debate when I post my fish the Sao Fran and that's because a lot of people on mfk see a pic of one or two fish and think they all are going to look the same. We can all go to the same collection point and get 5-10 different looking Kels.

I can honestly say that this was/and still true about the OG Cearas that I had had and seen. But!!!!!! You still could of told them apart from rapps 2nd and 3rd batch that came out that or about that year.

Know your vendor!!! If they only import stuff from asia and "wild" cichla most likely said cichla are from asia and not necessarily where they claim to be. Or if there price is to good to be true, it probably is. You can tell by what else someone is offering if they are getting fish directly from SA as these shipments need to be big and would not only consist of one or 2 species.

Buyer beware!

I'm mainly talking about the Tocantins , RA kels, São Fran....
I have all three and more than one of each.... I've noticed that one has more of a mono body style with two big eye spots on the tail that merge together or is divided by a gold bar but is still together with the eye spots going up and down, body blotchings are low. Another has the azul or orino body style with the eye spots still being double going front to back but also the eye spots somewhat connect to the body blotchings which it has a lot of. The other kel eye spots are double and go up and down, has azul body style, body blotchings not as much. I see people posting up stuff saying its a RA but looks like my Tocantins or São Fran or Vice versa. These bass all have things I've mentioned in common making me think they all have the same parents or at least one parent in common. All these bass came in from different vendors but are probably all from the same place. Still going to be great bass but them being all these different locations I doubt it.
