Something on the tail of my Midas

seriously? 109 views and 4 posts? please someone at leastgive me something. it seems that the bubble on his tail is getting smaller and the brown spot on the jd is going away. this is the 3rd day that ive treated w pima and melafix along w salt. im just wondering if i should do a partial w/c to get some of his poo outta the tank

My thai silk flowerhorn has this on his tail fin. i posted about it in the hybrid cichlid section.

looks like a hazy white speck now, that i really wanna just try and scrape off with my nail. fish doesnt seem to be bothered...eating fine etc. so im just watching closely. should it get any bigger i think i might just scrape it off.

looked like a blachead pimple at one point too..*shrug*

If it seems to be getting smaller, I would continue to treat exactly how you are doing. Seems like a much better idea to try this method before going to something semi-extreme like cutting a section of the tail off. That could lead to infection in itself.

does the speck warrant the entire section of tail to be cut off?
or can the speck itself be removed?
definitely dont want to do more than necessary.

thank you. no idea why the water is crappy. the tank has been cyced for quite a few months before he came in. the ammonia is 0, nitrites 0 and nitrates 5ppm. i have more than enough filtration w 2 ac110's and a little via aqua powerhead running.

My large male flowerhorn gets these all the time on his tail mainly but also near his gills, I always treat with malachite? sp green for a few days and they get better, then show back up again in a few weeks. They dont seemto bother him at all and we have been doing this for a year now.

thats weird. this one on his tail started out looking like a pimple, put the pic up and ppl said not to worry. well then after a few days a bubble appeared on it. also, my jd has two brown spots on her tail (they are in the same tank) the water is white and hazy since i started treating w pima and melafix and salt. i could care less about the jd, im thinkin about just puttin her down. but i dont want anything to happen to that midas. the thing on its tail is almost gone so something is working. im just puzzled as to why the water is bad looking
