Hey all I have reluctantly had to close down my 6x3x2 and had to downsize to a 4x2x2 but I'm struggling to think of a monsterish size species I could house for life as expansion is probably not going to possible for a couple of years at least. Has anyone got any ideas? I'm open to all suggestions and I am considering a species / solo fish aquarium

Try a nice creamcycle Midas male grow to be a pig of a fish. We have a 10 incher that looks like a sumo wrestler.

So many choices, 120g is good dimensions. What do you like? Do you want a solo mean "wet pet"? Could be good for anything from a planted rhom tank, to most ca/sa cichlids like the GT mentioned, except the huge ones like dovii and umbee, can do a semi aggressive community... honestly the list of fish you cant do is easier than what you can do with that tank

apurensis catfish:thumbsup: or maybe a group of gulpers, a wyckii would take years too outgrow it too, so theres a few different catfish... could do a mala wolf fish or redfin with that width too... fahaka puffer also an option.

could do a mala wolf fish.

Only if he wants his arm bit off during water changes :). No just kidding, although it could happen.

my vote is if he wants a cichlid to do a amph of some kind, any of the Red Devils, Midas, midevils, hogas.
or you could go native and do say three walleye, I think that would make an interesting tank.

Well I've been looking at all suggestions and I'm seriously considering a big gt they look stunning when adult. Do you think the tank has enough size to squeeze a cat in aswell without the gt attacking are they really that much agro when large?

Love the oddness of the wolf but not sure about all those teeth lol I had a rectic ray before she kept me on edge but was fairly friendly and easy to avoid.

I've kept mostly sa/ca cichlids over the years so a gt will / should be easy for me

You have room for a cat definitely, my suggestion would be a sun catfish.
