SOMETHING TERRIBLE IS HAPPENING ON NETFLIX

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Heard of it but never saw it and I probably wouldn't get a lot of the humor.

To be honest they are both good. Its a good way to see the differences in the humour of both countries.
The U.K version only had 2 or 3 series and an xmas special. Its certainly worth watching if you have some time to kill.

I'll look around and see if I can't find it offered on some cable or streaming site.

Just to start some controversy I will say the english version was better.............

Yes, yes, yes. Ricky Gervais is a genius. It was the popularity and sheer brilliance of his original UK "The Office" which spawned the US version. As you said, there are two series and an xmas special. David Brent, played by Gervais, must be one of the best comedy characters, ever, and I don't say that lightly. The main reason I say that is because his role is quite a serious one, he's the boss in a small office, it's not, or shouldn't be perceived as a comedy role. But the things he says, and does, in his attempts to be a popular and well liked boss, have you in hysterics. It's cringeworthy watching him squirm in some of the situations he gets himself into. And he does that Oliver Hardy thing where, on occasion, when things aren't going well, he glances into the camera in almost exasperation.

And if the office wasn't good enough, he went and bettered it with "extras". There's loads of very famous actors in it and he absolutely takes the proverbial out of them, and the best of it is all these serious actors play along with it, they love it. Just off the top of my head, the Ben Stiller, Kate Winslet and David Bowie episodes are particularly brilliant, but they're all good.

I hope you are aware england and australia are 2 different countries?
I enjoy fish and chips but never crossed my mind to play the didgeridoo at the same time as eating them!

In fairness to KATALEKEEPER KATALEKEEPER though they are pretty close together, it's an easy mistake to make!!!!! Lol.

Personally i'm not much of a fish and chips man, even coming from the uk. I much prefer yabbies fresh cooked on the barbie, washed down with copious amounts of Fosters whilst watching old reruns of "Skippy the bush kangeroo".

On the subject of Skippy, when I was a kid I used to be able to understand the Skippy language. When he'd go hopping over to the ranger frantically "tutting", I just knew there was someone trapped down a mineshaft with a broken leg, lol.

I was in the U.K when the original was airing for the first time, I watched it but dont remember it being that popular at the start then slowly becoming a big thing. I like both versions, but do think the UK one is better,. For whatever reason the U.S version is way more popular here, my wife hates the UK version and doesnt find it funny at all which I find strange.

They are very close, you should drop in next time you are in the area! Id offer you a fosters but funnily enough no one actually drinks it here. In fact i dont know anywhere that even sells it. Last time I drank it was in 2002 in leicster in the UK in some dodgy outback theme pub. Apparently they are doing a big relaunch of it soon, the brewers think the young people are sick of craft beers and will want to go back an aussie classic. Theres so much beer to choose from now that I wonder if it will work. I will buy a 6 pack just for the novelty.
If you want a really nice australian beer track down some James Boags Premium.

Lol, even under normal circumstances I doubt very much i'd be in your neck of the woods anytime soon. There was a time when I thought that during my retirement years, and before I popped my clogs, that I would do a lot of globe trotting. There are so many places I want to visit, Australia being one of them. But my wife's health isn't what it used to be and I doubt travelling (great distances at any rate) will be at the top of our to do list by the time i retire. A real shame but it is what it is.

I looked up that James Boags beer. He was a Scottish bloke who emigrated to Tasmania, interesting story. Unsurprisingly it's a bit pricy, almost £3.00 for a 375ml bottle. I can get a six pack for £15.90 on line from a place in London that imports it. If I was certain that the bottles would be safe in transit i'd give it a go, I might still do, watch this space.
