If you don't have a test kit get one. You'll have to determine yourself what amount of water needs to be changed to keep your nitrates low.

I'm currently treating HITH with my oscar and I'm doing three 50% or two 75-80% a week.

I would also see what you water is comming out at from you tap, I had a prob with nitrates, they was reading on the test kit I had dark red [dark red = 50 - 75] BUT when I did a tap checked on the water from the tap that was reading 50 - 75 straight away, I did try other kits but all gave the same.

Good luck getting him sorted out ;)

I see battle damage on your jag not hith it's also on and around the lips if u look closely also the jag is to small or young to have such a extreme case of hith. I can imagine it might have to do with the 2 flowerhorns u are keeping him with i suggest another tank or a fish has got to go back to the lfs my 2 cent.

Around the eyes in the second and third pic there is some pitting that may be hith but in the first pic that's all fresh battle damage for sure.

I got him from the person who kept him with the flowerhorns. He is now in the 55 waiting to be put into the 150 that I now have. I plan on waiting until this has past until putting him in the 150, so the stress doesnt make it worse/ hurting him in transfer.

Thanks for the imput about the battle damage, I'll keep an eye out for any infection that may occur.
