something wrong with jd

thats perfectly normal. when stressed/unhappy, JDs are a light/pale coloration, when secure/content, they are a dark color. all cichlids i know of follow this color-mood scheme. if your JD is normally a much lighter color, its probably being harassed by a tankmate or has no caves/decorations to hide in.

he has no tankmates. he used to have a decoration to hide in but hes outgrown it now. should i put something new in for him to hide in?

A nice big, dark, secure cave or three will make him feel much happier. They abhor being FORCED to sit out in the open. You won't like it as much cuz you'll have to peer into the cave(s) more often than not to see him (though they do have no problem swimming about in the open when they feel human eyes aren't on them). But the satisfaction of knowing my fish feel secure and "happy" is motivation enough for me to furnish their tanks well.

make sure u get them from a tank u can see, as a petstore fish buyer, i saw a lot o sick rosy reds, also feed him pellets,that would be best. hint feeders are for fun, fish food is for pros

i usually feed him hikari gold pellets but once in a while prolly about once a month i give him rosy reds

My whole tank eats about 70 in under 10 min the all just go primal and eat Eat EAT!!!!!!!!! till they get full and ill tell ya they ll get some fat bellys lol. ill take some b4, during, and after pix next time i get some . i get em feeders 1 time a week adn i feed em bloodworm gum drops and Hikari chiclid gold pellets until the next week
