hexmita is usually diagnosed in similiar situations but your fish is lacking other symptoms to make it heximita.

A little info on internal parasites...All fish live with "internal parasites". they are found in the digestive track and its theorized they help with digestion. the reason for the fish become ill is thought to happen because of an increase in the number of these paracites, usually caused by stress, poor diet, water quality and/or a combination of these things. the white poo is not actual fecel matter but the fishe's actual stomach lining. The lack of apetite is not because the fish doesnt want to eat but because of the constent shedding of the stomach lining ,it is actually painful to eat.(this can be observed true when the fish wont even touch meaty food i.e bloodworms/brineshrimp that any normal fish would devour.

im not to familiar with fleubendazole but i know u use to treat for worms. it has a relatively poor solubility. DONT USE ACETON with it. Hope your fish gets better. GL

I literally thought you meant hex as in curse!:grinno:

Thanks thats some great info on internal parasites...didnt realise that was stomach lining. No it wont even eat bloodworm or shrimp, just spits them back out.

yes it was a chinese algea eater . i dont know if the med is in the uk but try to googel it and c if it is because its commen here even walmart carries it.

my algae eaters are pretty aggressive i witnessed one of them fighting with the jag a few weeks ago

i did google it but i cant find it here. I'll just have to hope this med im using works.

progress? no. although it did eat a few live river shrimp that I put in the tank this week. And an earthworm about 2 weeks ago. but no dry food at all. It looks terrible its such a shame, almost black stress bars, still got the white faeces hanging out, although it has been being slightly more agressive (like how it used to be) it is now the smallest fish in the tank, and by far the scrawniest. Iv spoken to loads of people who work in fish shops near me, none of them know. What i also found in the shops iv only been to once or twice is how patronising the bastards are when u want to ask a question. They start coming out with explaining what nitrates are and that nitrates are bad, like im a complete moron. Mugs!
is it possible that the internal parasites have taken such a hold of the flowerhorn that it is irreversible? I mean its been like this for about 2 months and still alive.

The guy who told you to change your pH has no idea what he's talking about.

Your fish has an internal parasite. Keep the tank at 80*, dose with salt, and treat with metro or prazipro for a week. Keep up on your water changes until the stringy poop stops.

Exactly what I wanted to say.

rasing ph wont do anything. the ph is at 7 (the normal) if i change it there will be more problems

i tried treating twice...nothing. Using salt, raising heat..nothing.
didnt eat for a month, got so small. eventually it eat some live river shrimp i put in the tank which was good but it wouldnt eat the pellets i offered.
in the end i sold him explaining the situation, so hopefully he'll be able to sort it.
glad its out of my hands now tbh

good lucks with urs
