Something wrong with one of my Lapradei´s - pics+video

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Should quickly separate the fish into a hospital tank and put in lots of salt, turn up the temp to 30 degrees C.

Change water every 3 days should be able to bring the fish back.

Otherwise it should be meeting its maker very soon.

i was dead when i got back home last night, just a few hours after i shot the video :(

that really sucks.

you aren't dead though

Sorry to hear of the loss, hopefully whatever it had doesn't spread to your other polypterus.

Didn't you have a sen that contracted hexamita in this tank? I would treat the tank with bacterial meds, to be on the safe side.

Sorry to hear about the loss man... don't you have any idea on what cause the infection? maybe because of the food or anything? try recalling...

turn up temop to 90 degrees f and it should be back to normal

And this ASSesment is based on WHAT ?

Total bull**** IMO...some bacterial infection GETS worst with higer temp. If you're not 100% sure, DON'T Suggest anything...

Back to the subject...

I'd separate him ASAP. Use ALL water from the main tank INTO the new tank. Observe his poop/waste. If you have an access to a microscope, see if you can put them under the glass.

if not, just take some pics of the waste so we can determine if it's bacteria or parasite.

Now,

How long have had him ? did you QT ? when was the last time you add any fish into the tank ? what kind ? when ? did you QT ?

What do you do for QT process/regiment ?

In the mean time...leave temperature to the normal temp. Add a bit of salt..and increase aeration.

You can dose praziquantel (prazipro) or Metrodinazole to eliminate some of the common parasite for now...if he doesn;t have it, it won't hurt him at all.
