Something wrong with Oscar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How long have you had him? How long has he been doing this? Did you just redecorate the tank? What are the tankmates? What size is he? What size tank? Sorry for all the q's. Mine do this when i do maintenance or redecorate the tank. Usually only for a few hours, sometimes up to a day. Mine seem to be moody at times.

2 weeks, been very active, feeding from my had for the last week, just today, still doing it now, he is in a 55 gal, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 10ppm nitrates, no redecoration or changes, 8inch exactly, also in with a 9" tiger oscar, 4" red devil, 3" Mayan, slightly overcrowded but am selling both oscars on Wednesday for that reason, all other fish very active, I just can't see any issue. Thank you

Oscars are funny like that. If there are no signs of anything else wrong, then I'd bet it's just being moody. Mine did the same thing.

ive had moody oscars, my big ol guy used to float around pointing straight up for a day at a time sometimes!-o

He can be suffering from some type of internal illness. Is he shedding his mucus lining at all?
