i was just about to start a new thread until i saw this. i got a 24 inch silver about three weeks ago and he hasnt eaten anything yet. then all in a sudden today he started spazzing out, hitting the glass so hard i thought the glass was gonna break. i dont know what to do either.
i haven't read much about silvers doing this
but it might be like this because he is new or might just be that your fish is a bad ass fish

i don't use the lights anymore as he gets really angry anytime in the evening if the lights are on and starts banging on the tank glass or the hood(what i do is i switch on the stairways lights on for 15 mins or so then the room lights , but not the tank lights)
if i want to switch the lights on in the tank i do it by turning the lights on just before evening so that he doesn't notice the difference

lol, i guess you know exactly what i'm talking about then.:D

anyways, forgot to ask how big is your Jar? ..mine is 10" now.

i guess its common for them to freak out like how our's do...but, i cant explain why yours would just stop eating like that for no reason..my only suggestion would've been to try new food. (market shrimp, crickets, etc.) but, it seems that you already did that so, IDK...sorry bro, hope he gets better :)

but its sad that he doesn't want to eat

ok he ate a few earth worms yesterday 6 i guess
but not his normal appetite
he usually used to eat more than 15 and get a big plump belly

well keep trying with the floating pellets =] they should get interested in them if you keep throwing a little in the top of the water surface....and as they get hungry they tend to just go ahead and eat the pellets and get used to it that they stick to them

i used to feed him dried shrimp before and he used to eat the, with gusto
but when he gets into his moods he is all out for hunger strike
never had luck with pellets though

when i bought a jar i was hoping for a real bad ass interactive fish
and now i have a bad ass fish minus the interactive part

For some people, feeding peas will increase a aros appetite.

The addition of alovera juice has also shown success in increasing appetite.

btw. my jar/pearl.....3yrs.....22"

so you say that i keep a bowl of alovera juice and let the pellets absorb the juice and then add it to the tank for the jar huh
lets hope that works
