Right now its not too bad, but iv just been noticing small things that arnt right and the list is gradually getting bigger.
first of all it was white poo that is stringy that looks like it has eggs in it...thats really hard to explain.
then he stopped eating, but im not sure if this is because i use 2 different types of pellets and i thought instead of picking some from each pot iwill just put them in to a resealable bag, he always got excited when seeing the blue pots but now he just ignores the bag, but hes not eating. he had some bloodworm and krill the other night with the lights off and i thin he nibbled a bit.
hes not as aggressive....thats worrying in itself lol

but his colours fine and his eyes are still nice and red.

i did a w/c the other day and put in a drop of melafix, thinking if it was anything internal it would help and he did perk up.

so basically,
is it internal parasites?
shall icarry on melafixing it?
how long can he go without food? as it has already been a week with only a nibble here and there since.

thanks and sorry it was sucha n essay

thanks sooo much for that, although i have no idea where u would get Metronidazole from over here. i will have to go to my lfs and see if they can get it in.

is it internal parasites? they are probably internal parasites.

shall icarry on melafixing i would keep on melafixing it until u get the Metronidazole

looks like im just going to have to keep melafixing full stop. my lfs doesnt stock it and cant get hold of it.

he actually seems to have perked up a bit now, hes flirting with himself in the mirror.
im goin to do 15% waterchange then add more melafix and this time the correct dosage as last time i wasnt sure if it was parasites or not so didnt put in the full dose.

thanks for the info and hes about 6"

Chloe, melafix will not do the trick. You can purchase metro on ebay if you could have it shipped to you. Call some LFS and ask if they I.N.Z., it's the same thing as metro. Some medicated pellets have metro in it also. If you can't find metro, I would use another broad spectrum anti biotic. Hex takes a lonng time to treat sometimes, and will work a lot better if you can get the fish to eat pellet soaked in metro solution, or whatever antibiotic you can get your hands on. I've used human antibiotics on my fish before also. Epsom salt in the water will help also. I have heard of people using clout before, and another medication called refish. I would think erythomycin, tetracylene, or penicilin would be available and would be a lot better than melafix IMO. Hex is a very bad disease, and you need to treat it strongly. Stringy white poos don't allways mean hex, but the not eating part, and the fish becomming lathargic make me think it's hex for sure. Best of luck.
