Well months of hard work just flushed down the toilet. Thursday night my part of Michigan was hit by a severe winter storm that took out my power. The result of which is six dead Peruvian festae and a dead female Jag and my large male le Cieba struggling to right himself and hanging on by a thread (his female seems OK). The water got down to 54 degrees f. Of course the Dempsies seem to be fine and I am pleased to announce my beani are unscathed! I knew lower temps for them meant less aggression but doing the limbo under the mercury like that is amazing.

Over the years we have had the power go out but it`s always come back on within a day. Looks like I`ll have to invest in a generator.

Thanks for your support. That`s the first mass die off I`ve ever had in more than forty years of keeping cichlids. It just goes to show you never know what the hobby is going to through at you.

sorry to hear, i went through the same with hurricane sandy. no power for 8 days or so. and even with generator, gas wasn't easy to find however. best of luck with the others.

what part of michigan.... i live near ann arbor and we haven't had a power outtage in a while

So sorry.
