Sometimes I really hate Clown Loaches

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Clowns will always prefer the smallest, tightest fitting space to hide in. The best solution is to eliminate every possible occurance of this to prevent getting stuck. How did they die? Getting squished from one another or even abrasive wounds?

That is a ****** loss...

Given the fact that I wouldn't have thought that more than 2 of them could have fit in that hole, not to mention 3 AND a pleco the size of 2 additional loaches, I'm assuming they suffocated.

ya sry to hear

I'm sorry for your loss.

Your post most likely saved my clowns. Because of your post I pulled the fake driftwood out of my tank. My clowns liked to hide inside it. It smelled NASTY when I pulled it out. They must of been going potty in it. Its sitting outside in a bucket of bleach water now.

All loaches will kill themselves like that if given the chance.:(

Really? I kept six clowns around 3-5" in a 150g for years with a long hollow piece of driftwood that they shared with a big fat fire eel (until the eel got too fat to fit in there!). Never did I have one get squashed. I've been keeping clowns in tanks with hollow pieces of wood and pvc pipes for years and never happen. I sure hope I haven't jinxed myself!!

Sorry for your loss, don't give up on the loaches tho!!!!

Sorry for the loss man. I didn't think they would be that dumb either, but I just had one get himself stuck in the bottom of a pot. I had to break the pot to get him out.

Sorry for your loss, I only use pvc pipe pieces and clay pots for decoration. my 2 CL's will go in and sometimes lay on their sides. When noticed they "jump up" and continue to go about their business. They have been doing this some many months - every so often I'll walk by and see it. What that has to do with yours is nothing other than sharing a bit of weird behavior I have observed of my fish cult.
