Just wants a fish or two. What do you guys suggest as a lone fish or a real slow grower.

I'd probably suggest some green spotted puffers. They're pretty fun to watch, though you couldn't make it a community tank. If they're young, it's smart to get 'em hooked on the odd balls early.

If you've got a light, go w/ neon tetras. That was my gate way fish into this hobby.

agree...not my thing. but neons may catch his attention as well as planting it. BTW, he's 15.

GSP ? If so, are they hardy. he will be doing water changes often, or is there a diff puffer?

GSP puffers might be abit tricky since salinty level needs to be maintained, and they like food raw or live. But is good training for a future MFKer
