they get max at about 1.75 inches, mostly stay on the surface...very hardy and not picky. Pea puffers, not sure but i bet you they live longer than you think. also aggressive little hunters!

confused w/ puffers and rams. I like the nast lil puffer, but the rams are colorful against the greenery and do move around quite abit more. I have time to figure it out.

not pushing either way, but puffers ALWAYS have unique and interactive personalities, even at this tiny size.

I'd go with a trio of dario dario. 6 cardinal tetras. And a pair of LF albino bushynose.

Planted is a good idea but frustratin if u don't have all the right ingredients.

Think I am leaning toward the puffer, I know my son is. Ultimately it's his choice. Just got to get some Flourite first, then I'll start the "mini" build.

Puffers are also cool, and you are 100% right, if yor son doesnt have interest in rams then go that route.

I have never kept puffers, but I hear than can be mean little bastards, and chew up other fish. Can someone with more puffer experience than myself confirm or deny this?

I'd hate to see cories or bristlenosed plecs getting the nom nom nom treatment

He's fifteen then get the kid a mantis shrimp. Enough said! Get him a coral and mantis shrimp tank and you will be trying to steal his tank from him trust me... imma mantis shrimp
