if it were me, id stick with nikon. i have no experience with either camera but when i was looking at DLSRs i stuck with the two big names in cameras, nikon and canon

ok cool 1 vote to the Nikon then

go with nikon but go with a D80 model or up. the D60 and the other entry model DSLR's lack a number of important features that the low mid range D80 has. The biggest being the inability to focus with older nikkor lenses.

If your taking pictures of fish, look into overhead flashes (Sb-600 and up)

im 15, i have a low budget im paying £350 just to sort out my tank £150 for fish.. i need something in that price range.

D80 is too expensive at tho moment.

Than it's your choice from here. The D60 is capable, but not where i personally would start. you WILL want an overhead flash, and thats a couple hundred. with that, the body, and the lens your set.

photography is fairly expensive if you go deep into it.

you may want to hold out and buy a d80 when you have the money, or may find yourself upgradeing bodies sooner or later if you stay with the hobby.

you have a D80 right?? got any pro pics i can see which u have taken??

i own a D70, and a D700, (have owned D2Xs aswell) i have used a friends D80, but i have never owned one.

D70 not any good or is it more??

i think ill try to save up a bit more then, im not after anything spectacular just something which will get some fairly decent shots and the closeups should be high quality aswell, I.e clear shots of a dovii mouth etc

This is where I like canon alot more-
Something like the XSI or the XTI would be a great choice for an entry cam---Instead of concentrating on the exspensive stuff now like the over head flashes and transmitters,One could get away with upgrading the lighting on their tank and still produce great pics from the cam....Mainly the way I started out...Plus have the benefits of many lense options down the road...Canon is forgiving in that dept-Where I have heard Nikon isn't....

Anyhow hard choice to make----Think about the future and just how much you want to get into photography before you make a snap decision....

Many people here will bounce back and forth between Nikon and Canon..
