there'll be massive sales coming soon to electronic products. gear up and get yourself a nice Canon EOS 50D or Nikon D90 DSLR.

or if you're simply looking for an exceptionally nice point and shoot, go for a Lumix DMC-LX3 or Sigma DP2. Both of which are rated among the best of compact cameras, with Sigma considered a point and shoot with SLR quality photos.

D70 not any good or is it more??

i think ill try to save up a bit more then, im not after anything spectacular just something which will get some fairly decent shots and the closeups should be high quality aswell, I.e clear shots of a dovii mouth etc

D70's are still good, an older cam but produce good results. I would stick with saving for a D80-D90. And BTW, by the time you have $1000 for a D90, D300's will be down around that price aswell, you can get them for 1200 or less now on ebay or photo forums.
