Sooooo who wants to sell me a 3D background?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I created my own outa polystyrene for my 180, as I wanted it up to 4" thick in areas for tunnels I made for a few fish. It has a slate color w/ green plants and built in bubblers. I did have an issue w/ some silicone I used so had to re-piece it together w/ aquarium silicone but it looks pretty sweet and getting ready to re-install in a few days.

Alright got the light, showing glare from the window but you get the idea :D

Well, as you can see not extremely noticeable.

You can tell where they over lap because of the edges but as you can see nothing too extreme.

I think the tree stump backgrounds from both manufacturers fail. Its very difficult to mimic a tree coloration. If I had to pick one, I still think this AT is the best out there -

BUT, as soon as you add in real driftwood to the tanks decore/aquascape the artificial stump stands out like a sore thumb.
