Sooty Grunter growth rate

Sooty, refering to the color that the Sooty Grunter is named after. Cos mine is a dark silver color at the moment. I was assuming that they get darker as they get older?
 
Not too quick depends on water temp a fair bit. And how much your feeding them.

How big is your tank?
 
Tank is only 2 footer for another couple of months, looking at getting a 4 footer until I can get my garage cleaned out enough to put a 6x2 in there.I feed him about 1.5 cubes of bloodworms a day(1/2 morning, 1/2 midday, 1/2 night), and am starting to substitute with native pellets. Water temp is 27.Also, love that sooty in your pic.

ok a 2ft wont last you too long. Plan for a 4ft asap they can feel cramped and be flighty around people. But in a 4ft it will be fine for at least a couple months as long as they're alone dont try and mix anything with it.
 
Also you dont have to feed them feeder fish. But its always good fun.
Should probably try give some vege wafer things as well. But i guess they'll get that from the Pellets
 
Thanks for that. Just waiting for birthday(october) for tank and wanted a 4x1.5x1.5, but will this not last too long?
And yeah, I knew nothing would go well with him when I bought him. I just wanted a crazy native!
Feeders will only be a once in a while thing, just as a treat. Dunno how much bigger he has to be to fit a neon tho.
