At least 300 pounds of rock, a huge skimmer, and going with a large refugium instead of a wet-dry would be a better option as long as you have enough rock. Macroalgaes in the refugium help remove Nitrates but a wet-dry does not. You will still need to do water changes, but a refugium will help lessen the need. You could probably get a way with smaller changes if you use a large Fuge. Mechanical filtration on a tank this size is just not feasable and in the end it would just be a pain in the @$$. You could go with the wet-dry and a refugium by the way. This would probably work best if you have the space but I would not go wet-dry only.

LMAO ok seriously, anything other than a bamboo will need a lot - A LOT more room than just 300 gallons. I seriously hope the "sharks" you mentioned are just wishfull thinking in that tank otherwise you are going to have a disaster waiting to happen on your hands.

Wet dry's do great biological filtration. They do crappy mechanical filtration. Most of the waste that fish put out ends up on the bottom of the tank. The wet dry cannot possibly suck the dirt from the bottom of the tank.Your still going to need some kind of power filter in conjuction with the wetdry. Also wetdry's are nitrate factories.Sharks do not like nitrates.
