Sorrry to post bad news, just thought I would mention my baby Leichardti died last Thursday and I'm not sure how and why. I' had him for a week and a half and he was eating pellets the first day I put him in his one hundred gallon tank. When I observed him he only had encounters with an orange pike and peackok bass (I seperated the peackok to another tank) in the tank. If I attempt to keep a Leichardti again its going to start in a species tank and alone.

Thanks, I was looking forward to working with him for a long time.

sorry for your loss did you check the water?

Did not check the water or PH, however the day before I put him in the 100 gallon I did a 25% water change with well water (has no chemicals) that has a PH around 7.0 (varies somewhat) and cleaned with the gravel with a siphon. I'm going to college one hour and a half away during the weekdays and come back to the ranch on the weekends. To my knowledge he didn't look beat up when he was fond dead in the morning and none of the other fish seemed stressed from water problems.

hmm what do u feed it?

He was devouring pellets and I offered him small goldfish.

the goldfish may be sick.... do you have them quarantined before you feed them?(having a nightmare feeding my 17" silver with goldfish :()

shouldn't have put him straight in a 100g. You need to grow him out a bit.

He was probably super skittish right? Freaked out most of the time you approached the tank?

I'm willing to bet he freaked out and bumped his head somewhere pretty hard.
