Sorry Leichardti Death

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No I did not quarantine the goldfish and they normally they only last an hour in the tank. The larger peackok bass ( one inch longer) that I separated to another tank bit him and the Leichardti lost some scale that to my knowledge did not become infected. I sleep in the same room as this tank and the fish seem if their going to come into conflict it happens during the day and my dad said he found him dead in the morning before his morning feed with no bits or frayed tail fins and he was eating pellets the night before. Being away from the tank during the week I am really in the dark about what actually happened.

He was not skittish at all (actually quite bold he was eating pellets only an hour after I initially put him in the tank) he is elevated on a high rack about 5 feet from the floor and as a standard for raising young Arowanas he had plenty of floating plastic plants as a sanctuary. At that hight he did not see much movement from in front of the tank.

My best guess is that the missing scales got infected eventually or maybe after a second bit from the orange pike. However, he was found dead in the morning and normally the pike sleeps in his rock crevice until first light.

If I give a second attempt I would raise the Leicdardti alone until about 12 inches in a 50 to 100 gallon (no expense is to great for an Arowana).

probably goldfish has parasite
RULE #1 * NEVER FEED AROWANA LFS FEEDERS!!!!!!!!!!!*

Parasites in goldfish I have heard that quite a bit on these forums however not much here in California. Would parisites kill a four inch Arowana in a week and a half? I normally only supplement my fish by feeding them goldfish only twice a week once when I come back to the ranch and second during the week my dad picks up a feeding. Are parasites in goldfish a big problem here in California because when Kenny (a friend of mine who owns a aquarium store, he lets me go to the wholesalers with him every now and then to pick out things for me and his store) picks up his goldfish the sometimes come in bags that look medicated (Blueish color). Overall I mostly feed frozen prawn chunks and pellets.

sum feeders have parasite only

Always possible with Arowanas, he may have jumped at night and hit his head something like what xaznkewlguyx said. With floating plants I think its less likely.
