sorubimythis planiceps

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
we used to get them a lot around here (uk-midlands) about 6-7 years ago,but none about now i never saw any bigger than about 18in-i think in general they never get the bulk of tsn but stay thin looking.

^ So...it's imposible to reach 5' @ captivity ya....Like RTC/TSN usually reach approximately 24" @ captivity with bulky body shape

no I'm not saying that-its just that the ones going in and out of the shops at that time were in the size range that i said -i would imagine that if kept in a big tank you could expect 30-36in like rtc and tsn and larger in a pond.
unfortunately i never got one at the time so i cant give first hand info (i went for tsn and rtc-still got both rtc=32in tsn=29in but was bought at a smaller size) i suggest you check the threads of the guy on-site with the 55000gal set up for optimum size-I'm pretty sure he has one or more.:)

if properly cared for every fish should reach close to if not larger then the wild potential as we eliminate 95% of the limiting factors of a wild fish...

Will they eat like a RTC or TSN I'd look into one but I don't want them eating my polys like a piece of spaggetti

MFKer Arapaimag has one that is over 4 feet in length. It is quite possible if given the space (he's also got similar sized Redtail cats).
