Actually I believe the snakeheads are surviving as far north as Virginia and DC.

They are said to be in Maryland as well.There is a man made lake or a large pond here in the city that has been rumored to have had them for years.
 
There are about 30 different snakeheads, most are tropical. There are a couple that can survive northern climates.

As for the sterile arowana, why not just buy wild collected specimens if the intent is to breed. This would make for a stronger gene pool anyways. Personally I don't believe the the OPs claims.

I dont want to stray from the topic but out of the 30 different types of snakeheads, there seemed to be a smalll handful of the types that were sold here and got the attention of the authorities...The OP can't purchase wild caught silvers,only what is made availible to the customers.He/she is not really claiming anything.
