i would skip oscar it would attack silver dollars.
p bass should ignore the silver dollars.
not a fan of silver aro's ;).
Veija synspillum are very interesting and colorful but CA :(.
if you go 8x4x4 i would say Pacu a good contestant they have great personality.
Geophagus usually need 7 for recommended school.

So this;
1 Azul Peacock bass
2 Mono's
1 Silver Arowana
1 South American Lungfish
6 Assorted silver dollars
7 ? Geophagus
1 Marbled sailfin Catfish
1 Pacu
-----
all in a 8x4x4 would be a great SA tank.

I might decide against the oscar then. It hasn't been in the best shape lately, so I don't even know if it will live long enough to make it to this proposed aquarium. That extra 1.5' to the depth is going to make this build a lot more expensive; I'll need to brace the aquarium even more than if it was 2.5' deep. An azul would be pretty cool but aren't they expensive and hard to find?

how are tetras and cories ok, 2 foot fish eat 3 inch fish

huh, SAL's are good with any SA fish really.
If this bothers you look it up in Lungfish Forum,
or create a thread.

I've had trouble with either my SAL or my previous redtail catfish (they were in the same aquarium) picking off tetras, so maybe they're not the best choice. I could add them, but I imagine that the other fish would also pick them off, too.

Alright so here's what I'm thinking for the stocklist now:

  • 1x silver arowana (Osteoglossum bicirrhosum)
  • 1x South American lungfish (Lepidosiren paradoxa)
  • 3x mono peacock bass (Cichla monoculus)
  • 6x silver dollar
  • 1x Leiarius spp.
  • 8x eartheaters
I think that this stocklist pretty well covers all parts of the aquarium. Any further suggestions for stock, decorating, etc.?

thats also an australian lungfish much more peaceful than south american lungfish

x2. As I stated before, I think I'm going to avoid little fish such as tetras and cory cats in order to prevent them from getting wiped out by the other much larger fish.

Anyone have any further suggestions for anything pertaining to this project?

The custom flow thing does look pretty cool. I'll definitely be needing a big pump for sure, too. I was thinking of having a sump for this build; how big of a sump would I need to be able to forgo additional filtration?
