I'm looking for some semi aquatic plants for my 55 gallon Amazon Biotope fish tank. I'm doing a DIY project soon with filtration, and was wondering what plants would be great for it? They'll be in a container/pot on top of the tank. And the outtake tube of my canister filter will be hooked up to the container/pot with plants.

check out ripariumsupply.com ....pretty sure there still in buisness lol... i ordered from them a few yrs ago. sent me some freebies/extras in my order and everything was in good shape. Also try a google search for any place selling "marginal" plants, theres alot out there. I recommend using hydroton in ur plant bed opposed to river rocks/pea gravel.. ive used both in the past for an aquaponis system and the hydroton is alot better for root growth...and lighter.

Thanks, one question is this one plant good for something like that? It's called a Zebra plant (Calathea Zebrina). It looks really nice but I'm not sure if it can be semi aquatic. Sources online say it likes frequent watering. But it doesn't say if it's a semi aquatic plant. Also peace lillies look nice, I'll definitely be adding them. And I also heard that nerve plants are a good addition too.
