can u just answer the Q... there all getting along now...

Top one is definitely male, bottom one looks Female but I can't be 100%.

Now answer my question, when are you getting rid of the fish so your tank isn't inhumanely overstocked (and divided)?

And when are you getting your new tank/s?

hey cv fm will lay a ton of eggs and any lfs i know of wont take them at .5 inch. they buy them wholesale at 2 inches for 60 cents. plus they wont take that many at one time. ur looking at getting rid of 10-30 at a time and you need to raise them to 2 inches. not enought turn around. that many fry would require a bunch of 10 gallon tanks and a large tank around 100 gallons or more so you can seprerate the large ones from the small ones. if your looking to breed some fish to pay for the hobby itself then just do some african mouth brooders like yellow labs and kenii that way you can raise 30 at a time and raise them 2 inches and get 2-3 dollers per fish and that will pay for your carbon filters etc.... my friend raise angels which is easy and at a quarter size they take 50 at a time because of the turn over rate and he gets 1.50 each so thats 75.00 every time he takes them in. when you try doing this with sa/ca cichlids its much harder because the turnover rate is slow so they take less and your stuck with a bunch of fish that you have to take care of which requires daily or every other day water changes. if you want to make money with sa/ca cichlids then go for hybrids which is tough but once done then you can make some money. if you cross a trimac with a rd or bp for example you end up with flowerhorns some low grade and some good. thats what im working on now. say you have a very nice festa and it mates with a jag. your going to have over 2000 fish that you need to move. so you could post on fish forums and ebay and such and say these fish are fry and im selling 30 fry for 30.00 dollers and you put pics up of the parents. i guarentee you could sell them without the hassel of raising them so big for a minimal price. hybrids are a pain but sell at a tiny size because people would pay you the 30.00 for the 30 fish in hopes that some turn out to be very expensive flowerhorns. trust me ive been through all of this and can tell you your wasting your time breeding firemouths if your in it for the money.

if i see one more thread about your FM's i am leaving this board for good, seriously, i know your like special, i get it, but comon dude, wtf, can we get the mods to put a thread capper on this guy, or should i start a thread every day about my fish and ask the same questions, we need order damnit

hope fully you actually mange to get rid of them.
not trying to hurt you :
but please do it-
not just say it like some other people.

Nice firemouths and jd.

mate, yes 1st two pics is of a male and last picture looks female,,,,,
a few things,DONT dev the tank as all the fish in half that tank will lead to disastar,,,fight fight fight,,,,,try to rehome the fish straight away, then start to look at the idea of breeding, but as the others say you really dont have the tanks to breed,,that tank is seriously small for it to be devided,,
second thing is doing what youve done is ok but this does not lead to breeding, bit more to it because firemouths may not except the partner you think is ok for him,,,
first batch If they do lay will more than likely be eaten by them
