  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i live in westpalm and fish everday i can tell you the non natives took a huge hit in my lake and all the other local lakes i fish are the same way i havent even seen a mayan since the freeze and my lake used to be full of them i did see hundreds of dead ones floating in every lake a few weeks ago

im plannng a fl fishing trip for may. ill be after snakeheads and peacocks. i hear cobra are every where but im hoping to catch gaucha lol jk. the guy that will be taking me said 3' sh are common as are 1' fish. ill be happy to catch any sh at all. i hope the freeze didnt kill em all off

Yo any luck finding some non natives, I live in west/royal palm, I still see mayan cichlids and tilapia but havent caught one since the cold spell, havent seen any pbass since, never heard of any rtc's around here but during the cold spell ive seen some pacu and clown knifes up on shore, My friend thinks he caught a clown knife the other day(hes not too familiar with the fish though). At the everglades mayan cichlids and oscars are pretty common, although I havent fished there post freeze so I couldnt tell ya, but for future spots or anyone interested the Loxahatchee national wildlife refuge(part of the everglades, northern tip of it) is a good place to fish. If you go further south like south miami i hear they are still getting peacock bass. Also I hear canals near the airport in miami/ft lauderdale are good and before the freeze thats where people were getting the most peacock bass as well as midas cichlids.

And you could always pm me for updates if you head back down this way, I could let you know which places are producing for me and which are dead.

Whats up man,
Actually i was going to post a overview of the whole trip over all.
To be honest, we had a blast!
Its extremely frustrating when you're not catching anything, but we ended up looking on the brighter side of things and making it a good time.
We fished every single day, day break to dawn, all different lures, life baits etc. Out of the whole time we were there we pulled out about 10 small bass all in one day.
Most of our time was spent in Miami-Dade. Caught nohting, saw 2 HUGE red oscars in the shallows though.
In palm beach county i remember every year slamming non natives in some of my old spots. When we went back there we saw a bunch of HUGE pleco remains (i will post some pictures soon).
I will be moving to palm beach county in June, lets hope for the best when the weather gets hotter!

nice, yea like i said i still see some non natives just cant get the same hits, i talked to a biologist from fwc and he said if no more cold spells occur things should be back to how it was in 3yrs, sounds like a long time but until then maybe the warmouth and some more obscure natives can thrive
