Enjoy these type of disussions would be awesome to have King-eL King-eL chime in.

Could be but the patterns and head look different to me. Can you post some pics of yours ? Was looking at things like bands and horizontal lines dont really match up with other members f laps including mine

Toyin said it came in a shipment from faranah but my understanding is so does sp.dabola

yes again it's variation in pattern of the same locality variant of Lapradei. It's strikingly different, contrasting vertical bands, compared to more tightly packed marbled pattern, but it's not unusual for bichirs.

Every species of bichir shows a good degree of variation.

Here is my F lap, similar vertical banded pattern, different headshape from yours (mine looks more like a Koliba/koloton head) and different head shape from my other two F lap.

Keep in mind I'm not using garnet so the contrast/color is off but you get the idea.

Sp dabola have very similar patterns to endli dabola. But arent endli dabola.

africanman africanman can maybe clear this up

Again, variation of patterns is normal.

However, I've seen Dabola endli and they don't look like the fish we call 'sp Dabola'

I'll also tell you that Toyin has corrected me because thefish we call Dabola, he knows it comes from Faranah.

You think i should screw qt and roll the dice ?

Im dying to see if yhe backround in the big tank has a negative effect on its appearence
Don't do it! If there's anything you guys have taught me, it's always QT.

Is it worth it getting your healthy gang potentially sick?

Yeah agreed. Im not arguing either way. I can go buy what toyin listed it as and you cans can be right who knows but the headshape and patterns still look different to me than your f lap.

Disclaimer : friendly debate lol i love these discussion bro.

This is what i see :the headshape looks diff, horizontal lines are different to.me the f laps have multiple lines and they look like the extend further, bands are full on the new fish and not broken where as they are on the f laps.

Base color means nothing as all the substrates are different. Again not saying im right but its what i see.

Considering how stunning it looks. I don't think the background will change much.

I knkw the head shapes can all be slightly off but man the faranah lap head shape is kind of consistent through out most of our f laps if not all. Not too broad looking slenderish

Oh yeah, headshape might look a little different due to it lacking a bit of mass(especially for a 16.5"). Your new fish is still on the skinny side.

That backround was such a waste of money lol. Every poly that wasnt an endli kind of reset and when through a whole settling stage again once i moved them in. Should have just done solid black....maybe the universe will allow me to get another tank lol
