spare 10 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
use the 10 gallon to house the rep while you are cleaning his custom enclosure. maybe a 4'x3'x2' :nilly:
how about a retic? yellow head or tiger.......or even a normal:headbang2

i wish i could do that so much i would love to have a snake...ive been wanting a python for a long time but parents say no....i may try to convince my parents to let me get a leopard gecko tho

alright does anyone have any leopard gecko tanks i can see and also do u think this would work for a setup

substrate: that reptile carpet stuff
heating supplies: lamp and heat pad
decor: caves etc

will that work

A very basic setup for a leo wouldn't be too expensive. Some of it can be made from stuff around the house.

  • small under tank heat pad-$20-30

  • paper towel substrate-should already be laying around the house

  • two hide boxes-can be made from old margarine tubs or something- one can be a moist hide, the other can be a dry hide
  • water bowl-maybe $3-or could even be made out of a plastic container as long as it's clean
  • calcium bowl-really could be just some old cleaned off plastic bottle cap or something
  • screen top-$5-10
If you went really bare-bones, you could probably set it up for less than $50 not including the leo and assuming you already have the tank. I personally would save up and have a nice setup with sand (), rocks, wood, etc. I used to keep my breeding pair in a 29 gallon with sand. One hide was a burrow under a driftwood stump, the other was a gladware container with moist moss hidden under a rock pile and there was a pretty big live aloe plant in the corner. I like to go as naturalistic as possible.

I would just go with paper towels instead of the cage carpet, but as long as the cage carpet doesn't have little loops in it (as these can snag claws/toes) it would work.
A heating pad should really be enough. I never used heat lamps on mine.
You should basically just have at least 2 hides. One on the warm end of the tank, one at the cool end (although there wont be a huge temp. gradient in a 10 gallon). One should be a moist hide to aid shedding. This can be done by lining it with moss or paper towels and misting inside it daily.
You'll also need some sort of water bowl and many also recommend a bowl of calcium powder. The leo may never use it, but occasionally leos will eat small amounts of the calcium if thy somehow sense they are lacking it-this is especially important for young lizards and breeding females, but all can benefit from it.

Also something I didn't mention I my other post-I would recommend getting a thermometer or temp probe to make sure both ends of the cage are at correct temps.

I don't have any of my old leo setup pics on my computer anymore, but I do have some hard copies at my parents house that I might be able to post sometime-don't know when though

I've used ZooMed heat pads in the past.

As far as the hood, it may hold in too much humidity. I'd use a screen top

alright i can do that i should have one lying around here somewhere....do u kno of any websites that sell those heat pads
