I was just reading the thread on the possible ban for fish. I think what really needs to happen is there to be a SPCA type program where people are encouraged to bring fish that they do not want any more, or could call and have someone come and pick up their fish for them to discourage releasing into the wild from the aquarium. Have something like a fish rescue. Work with the government to prevent the banning of more fish!

Thats a good idea in general but .. I live next door in Hamilton and have had dealings with the SPCA and reptiles I wanted to set up a private adoption centre and was advised of the laws concerning imported animals .They the SPCA won't even take reptiles apparently the only people who can keep more then one speices is the importers /reptile stores .
The moment we invite them into the fish hobby the rules will all change and we have enough issues with goverments sticking their red tape into our hobbies..

Don't get me wrong I would love to see it and it's a noble idea but I think educating irresponsible keepers would be more productive for our hobby
