species conformation is a little harder to do. There are genetics, body shape, coloration, and all that jank you need to mess with. Species conFIRmation though is much easier! :D

Just go here, pretty much if it looks like the fish in the first few pictures, you got D. compressiceps. Posting a picture makes it a lot easier to ID fish as well! ;)

yeah that it. Its already trying to eat guppies in the tank. so was twenty dollars a good deal?

What size tank and tankmates. 4" is still young. Not a good deal IMO.

right know in quarantine tank there are always a few guppies in that tank. Will move into 100 gall in a couple weeks. Also sorry it is 5.5 inch my mistake, and it was the first one i have seen down here.

20 bucks seems like a decent deal.

most likely a haplochromis compressicep... a fish that will definetly eat those guppies....lol...and i have to tell ya that as long as we had em, they didnt bite out anyones eyes but definetly were agressive....dont have any more haps but hubby breeds various Altolamprologus, ink fins, gold faced ect, gorgeous fish love watching their behavior..

Looks like this.
