I'm thinking a King Kong parrot and maybe a med size pleco (if there is such thing...is a gold nugget med?) I've read Gold Nuggets only get about 6" but I don't know if that's too big for my tank. Not completely sure yet. Any recommendations?
55 gal eheim 2017 filter. This is my first tank, everything was given to me used. My FIL had the filter running for like 20 yrs and it's still working! I've read they're pretty good. (I can't complain, it was free!) Like I said, I have an outdoor stocktank with shubunkin and comets and I really enjoy watching them. I can't wait until I get this tank going. (I do have patience though) So, I don't want to over crowd it or anything.
hey a bit off topic but how you like the shubunkins, I am looking to make a 10 gallon a goldfish tank. What they look like, got any pics. How many could I maybe get in a single 10, thanx alot.
Free tank, free filter, that great. A gold nugget pleco would be fine. Most 55's are 12 inches wide so a 6 inch pleco would be nice. Put some wood in there though, they will eat at it. I don't think their that cheap though, but they so look real nice.
Remove the chemipure and carbon and add the filter media from your other tank. The temp difference won't harm the bacteria, the bacteria will thrive best at around 82 degrees. Start dosing tank with the ammonia and when you go on vacation toss 3 cocktail shrimp in the tank. That tank will likely be done with cycle when you get back.
I'm not sure if you can put more than 1 shubunkin in a 10gal, they get pretty big-maybe 8-10". I only have 2 shubies and 3 sarassa in my 110gal stocktank. They are pretty, I don't have any pictures of them because it's getting cold and they're hanging out at the bottom. Most shubunkin have a calico color pattern-white, orange, and black. One of mine is more orange and black and the other is blue and a little black- very pretty.
