Here are a few pics of my Caquetaia. Unfortunately, I lost my big hand sized gorgeous female spectabilis, but I still have my small original pair and recieved a new one last week that is in another quarantine tank. Spectabilis are way meaner than my myersi or kraussi.

That is because they are not very colorful, I think. Also do not have the attitude of most larger CA cichlids, IMO. Spectabili either. Mine always lost out to Jags and in the end they gave up the ghost. I am much more conservative these days and would never run the risk with them.

I'd love to keep a community of these guys. Spectibilis, Myersi and Kraussi. All with 30 Congo Tetras. One of these days, one of these days.

Hopefully by then, Decker will have some Spec Fry! ;-)

Good luck with them and keep us posted.

Lost my 10 inch kraussi moving too, but I have another 5f/7m pair. I need to get some pics of my kraussi to post. Hopefully the specs will spawn for me soon enough....

Have you ever got them to spawn? Oh and what species do you NOT own? ;-)

There's a few, lol. Not yet, just got the spectabilis after searching forever.

Your specs and Myersi look very nice. My specs are growing pretty well although I am not sure on their sex. I also have myersi growing out at the moment. I do agree that specs are very mean.

Females have a shorter more rounded appearance and shorter more rounded anal fin, very similar to kraussi. Males are longer and seem to have more distinct jaw structure IME.
