Thanks Jim, how are the kraussi fry doing?

Hey James. The 'kraussi' fry are doing fine. They're about 1" and eat like slobs. I kept a couple of hundred and fed (at least tried to) many hundreds to big fish in various tanks. Most of them are still swimming around untouched. Unfortunately I lost my only female; got caught under a piece of driftwood and died. So I have three large males left plus countless fry. Might rehome the males (although the largest is one gorgeous fish so maybe I'll keep him) and grow out a few fry. Kind of start fresh.
Jim

I just sold 2 of my 3 Atabapo II pikes that are in the tank w/ my kraussi pair to a buddy in our local club. I think the pikes have been keeping kraussi from doing the deed. Female has been fat and both have been showing tubes but no dice. Pikes to really fight w/ them, but tend to take over the pots and lay in driftwood too close to where kraussi cleaned off slate holding driftwood. Sorry about your female Jim, I almost lost my male a couple weeks ago when it got stuck in a pot, but thankfully he is almost fully healed and back to his normal ways.

Not sure if she ate them eggs or if she just opened them w/ her mouth and hid them, which fish tend to do. If I don't see free swimmers in the next 2 or 3 days than it's back to square 1.

Well hopefully they get it right real soon but either way that's one nice pair and thanks for sharing!

Darn. You know they'll get it right eventually. ;-)

Ate the batch and spawned again, now eggs in pot. Hopefully better this time, 3rd batch in 3 weeks.
