I saw Slayer earlier this year...awesome show.

I saw Megadeth 2 weeks ago...still kickin it hard.

The old stuff is still by far the best IMO.

Meh, The oldest stuff I like is Rob Zombie. But most of the new metal is bad too.
 
its an old school metal thread,not a battle of old and new,i saw white zombie in 93 with danzig,thats a long time ago if you ask me.not as old as the others but hey.Rob zombie was standing on my sisters chair the other night singing in the front row!Dave Mustain is great,love old megadeth.
 
i not sure if you count them spped metal but always enjoyed ozzy,iron madien ,dio ,motley crue and such i guess i getting old i rather the 80"s and older metal but thats just me
 
Saw SLAYER for the first time in the early 80's at a club in Chicago, bet there wasnt 100 people there. Been a SLAYER fan ever since!!

I cant stand the "new" HeadBanger Ball metal (LoG, Trivium ect.) For me I would rather go back and see DEATH, Dark Angel and Nuclear Assault again!!

Schulinder was amazing!!!!!! So sad that he was taken at such a young age by such a vicious tumor.
 
It's fun to compare like a 80's metal song with the new metal of today, Metal has progressed a lot.
 
thank you walls for that vid,those other bands are not speed metal but sod is another story,i listen to that album a few times a month still to this day.Pixy my young freind,i promise you that nothing they do today with metal is anything they didnt do back in the day,it just depends on the band.Their are old bands that were not in mainstreem because they were doing crazy sht like now days.I have played guitar for 23 years and can play any metal song you let me hear.After i learn it of course.The stuff now days is so much easier to play than old stuff its not funny,what sucks for you in this is that i like and listen to the new stuff too so im not taking sides being biased or whatever.The new screaming crap is not new either and thats ok.its all metal and for me as long as the words are not freakin about slaying unicorns or lame crap like that i can dig it.Or whining about relationships.There were songs that sounded after heavy studying like they were writen by a higher power and then they had fillers,you take songs off master of puppets or south of heaven or rust in peace and you got unmatchable tunes and poetry.the farther we get,the less of this is coming out,even from those very same bands.Something is not there anymore.If you havent done this yet,get master of puppets and sit back in your room with your black light or whatever,lol.play the entire thing while reading the words or just listen.there is still awsome new music out there today,i just dont think its in the metal scene.Please know im not bashing your music,we got the same love here.I just wanted to get the vibes back with some oldschoolers here,but thanks to all for chimmin.
