Another little question,
If I change the floss on my filter with the floss of a friends filter, will it affect my friends acuarium?

Change or trade? I wouldn't put your filter floss, or anything in your tank in your friends tank. You still may have ich or fin rot in your tank, even if it's not visible, and they can easily be transferred to your friends setup.

Well, fin rot im having a case currently but i think its due to the stress of the bad water quality. I used a product from Argentina. It says it cures ich in 2 days but i read it was impossible to cure it so fast. So I repeated the treatment for 6 days.

Ok, tomarrow ill post the water readings and see how much it has cycled.

however I doubt it cycled because I had cleaned the filter with hot water and used a gravel cleaner so I doubt much has been accomplished.

i think the point in adding the gravel and filter media from a cycled tank is NOT to wash it. otherwise your terminating all the beneficial bacteria anyway so why bother? thats all cycling a tank is all about. making the water have a full microsystem in it thats sustainable for life.

yeah, i know the thing is that when i started i didnt know about the bateria and I saw that the filter was a bit dirty so I cleaned it with hot water. Then I had an ich outbreak and cleaned the gravel. So by accident I ended up hurting the tank instead of helping. I guess you could say I learned from those mistakes. Now I was looking for a way to get the bacteria back in order to help the fishes I have.

Ok, I did the water tests and this is what I got

pH-- 7
GH-180
Nitrite-1
Nitrate 25
Alkaline- 50

In order to keep the mollyies and an angelfish, is this ok?

Also, I had to move the fish tank because the floor in that room was going to be polished so I did a 30-40% water change, would this have fixed the nitrite level?

Has the cycle started? If it has, how much has been completed?

um there is always Bacteria in the tank so long as you didn't do a 100% water change and the fish poop.

it should be fine in another week but really... you could take a cup of water out of the tank and nomatter where you scooped it from theres gonna be bacteria.

when your tank's disease issues are settled, you can instantly cycle your new tank if you wanted to. what i do is upon my next water change, instead of throwing the water down the toilet i dump it all into the tank i wish to be cycled and fill it at least 1/4th if i can.

that way its like your just doing a 75% water change on the new tank and theres more than enough organisms in there to fire it up as if it were always running.
