What is the best product to use to help with cycling a tank?

a test kit and pure ammonia, check the general salt section in the marine and brackish section of the site for a great sticky on cycling

Seriously I need to get my hands on some of this stuff. Just wondering though, how would I know it's cycled if I never see ammonia or nitrite readings, should I put in some food and let it rot and test for ammonia and see what happens?

If fish are in the tank and you never see ammonia/nitrite, then it's cycled. I dumped in some wildcaught discus the same day I set up the tank, and started using Stability from day one. Never got any ammonia/nitrite readings.
