Got myself a Sperata today:headbang2. its 6-7 inch long and cost £9.95.

Think its Aor but i know there are couple species.

see someone else on here has just got one and people are saying they are aggressive.
but mine was in a tank with loads of Sorubim Lima and was not aggressive at all:confused:.
i got mine in with my Brachyplatystoma juruense and Scleropages Jardini.:naughty:

he was quite active in the LFS. lets see how quick he grows lol:popcorn:

I just got one as well. It is very small though, maybe 2-3".

Everything I have read thus far is that they are not tank mate friendly. However at these small sizes it's kind of a moot point because they are to small to harm anything aside from guppies...

I am assuming once they grow larger is when the problems arise. In the end it is all up to the individual fish though.

witnessed the little blighter searching for food and eating this morning. he isnt aggressive at all, but if the big clown which is a heel of a lot bigger comes into his little hidey hole behind the bogwood he gives it some wiggle to make him go away, but very nice cat. well pleased i bought him.

got a 6" one today! :D was looking him up twice a week in LFS. 1st time i saw the juveniles they looked like B. Filamentosum but the dot on the posterior of its andipose tail gave it away. wouldn't mind getting a Filamentosum too tho.

at first my 5" RTC was trying to eat him when the AOR went into the RTC's drift wood hole to no avail. the RTC kept pushing him away. later he found his way to the driftwood hole i made for him and they're now kinda good neighbors. both of witch dot get to bump into my 8" gator gar swimming above. will keep updates.

Mines getting to a ncie size now. he's already caught the Juruense up and will easily overtake him i reckon. he doesnt seem to be aggresive at all and i have only seen him eat in person once. never really see a decent sized belly on him, but he seems to be doing really well.

I love some nice Brachyplatystoma's!!!

Hi SJe106 & everyone else.

Congrats on your purchase. Can i ask where you got him?
If he was in with Lima i think you probabley got him from WW in Crews Hill? :)
I'm only down the road from you in sunny Barnet.

What species of Sperta have you got? Aor? Seengala? Acicularis?

I have x2 S.Acicularis and can safely say that yes they are fine together & with other cats up to a certain size and then they become more aggressive.
My 2 can no longer be kept together & the larger one 16" approx is currently living in solitary as it bloody attacks everything, even my much bigger cats.
These are very aggresive cats that have the potential to grow huge Im afraid, depending on what species you have.
Despite all that they are terrifc cats - very stunning & interesting.
Just aggresive :irked:

Hi Rob,

yea i got it from Wildwoods. last one they had left.

i know about there nature i reseaarch everything i buy first. so far its been fine but we'll see what happens as he grows.

i think it could be an Aor. but i can not tell as of yet.

wow. those get 72" long

@ rob, mines S. Aor. ive also only seen him eat once and haven't seen a belly on him unlike my RTC and Gator Gar. but he does seem healthy and aggressive enough too warrant being kept in his driftwood shelter

@ sje106, me too i want B. Filamentosumbut its really hard to get here in the philippines. not to mention other cats i want on the list like B. yarelli and a Silirus.

Hi all.

Yeah figured you meant Wildwoods.
Believe the one's they had in there recently (this yr) are Acicularis as don't think they've had Aor for a few yrs now.
Still a stunning fish.
I was sorely tempted myself because they are proper lovely when small but already have enough on my hands with all the beasts I've got !!

Keep us updated on its progress & size :WHOA:
