I know from experience Spiderplants are hardy little buggers and can grow with there roots only submerged in water with fert. But could I get one to survive underwater for and extended period of time. My thought would be to plant it directly over a bubble circle so the roots and blades could get some air, but other wise be completly underwater. Could this work?

I've tried it with no luck, but I didn't have bubbles and such. After a while they began to rot.
If you decide to try it please post how it turns out!

yeah I know they will rot if they are just underwater, but I'm really thinking the bubble may help. I will try it and let you know.

I would guess like some strains of bamboo they need to have at least some leaves above water

yes, but they can also get root rot, which is what I'm testing to see if the bubble will counteract.
